MT Fun Fact: Wilsall, Montana
Wilsall Store (Montana Historical Landscape)
A recent trip to the Wilsall Rodeo with Susan and Erica got me thinking about the history of this great Montana community. There's something special about spending time in a small town that still holds so much of its heritage and character. Looking around at the people, the landscape, and the traditions that continue today, it was easy to wonder how Wilsall came to be.
In the early 1900s, the Northern Pacific Railway built a spur line to Wilsall to help move people and goods to the growing population in the valley. The railroad played an important role in connecting the community and supporting its development during a time of growth in Montana.
The town's unique name also has an interesting story behind it. A prominent citizen and local landowner, Mr. Jordan, named the community after his two children, William and Sally. By combining their names, Wilsall was born.
Today, Wilsall remains a reminder of Montana's rich history and the close-knit communities that helped shape the state.
